Tailgate opened on its own causing damage to tailgate while backing trailer. This happened during cold weather down to 5 degrees on hunting trip and happened several times. Has not happened since in warmer weather. Wondering if it could be frozen latch ?

While driving through the rocky mountains on i-70 at 60 mph, a 1000 pound boulder fell off the mountain and hit my truck at high speed on the driver's front wheel. The air bags did not deploy.

Body
Tailgate latch gets stuck and also drops while driving and turning. The tailgate dropped involuntarily when i was hauling my horse trailer and damaged both my truck tailgate and my trailer jack. I had to close the tailgate again to get my horses off the road and now the tailgate is stuck and i cannot unhitch my trailer.
